Our Center

who we are:

Peas in a Pod Learning Center

We operate an early education learning center in College Station, Texas, dedicated to nurturing infants through kindergarten. Our center offers top-notch full-time care and education for children aged 0-5, as well as school-aged care.

At the heart of our mission is a commitment to serving our community by delivering exceptional care for young children, instilling confidence in parents that their child is in a secure environment.

Our goal is to foster the academic, social, and emotional development of our students, cultivating them into compassionate leaders within a loving and supportive setting.

With a dedicated team of teachers and staff, we take immense pride in our center. The positive atmosphere we’ve created is something we cherish, and we believe you’ll love it too!

Low Ratios

Our low teacher-to-child ratios allow dedicated teachers to focus on the individual learning styles and needs of each child. We beat the minimum state standards for classroom teacher-to-child ratios in every classroom. While state ratios go all the way up to placing only one teacher with 18 kids, our lower teacher-to-child ratios range from 1:4 to 1:9 in all classrooms. We are one of the only schools which employ 2 teachers simultaneously to work closely with students during the school day during awake hours which increases the quality of supervision, academic instruction, and social-emotional practice.

  • Infant Class 1:4 (state ratios 2:10)
  • Toddler Class 1:8 (state ratios 1:11)
  • Pre-K Class 1:8 (state ratios 1:15)
  • Kinder Ready Class 1:9 (state ratios 1:18)
  • School Aged Class 1:10 (state ratio 1:26)

Social & Fun

THE IMPORTANCE OF PAINTING WITH YOUNG CHILDREN

Painting with young children not only helps their creative development but it also stimulates their brain. Stimulating children’s brains can also help other areas of their development. When setting up a painting activity for young children, stop and think about what areas of children’s development the activity may be helping.

Resources

Outdoor Learning

Peas in a Pod Learning Center provides a unique outdoor learning experience for children. This outdoor learning experience is destined to become a best practice for teaching young children in our community. We are so excited to be offering this special opportunity! Outdoor learning combines problem-solving, flexible thinking, strategizing, and creativity to provide a high-quality teaching and learning experience.

Our Community Partnerships

Peas in a Pod Learning Center partners with Accell of College Station. We invite residents to read to our kids, enjoying a multigenerational approach to teaching our children a love for reading.
We also invite in students from TAMU and Blinn to collaborate with our teachers and join us in loving and caring for our students. We desire to immerse student teachers into high quality educational school environments.

Through our collaborations with colleges within the Texas A&M University System and other local agencies, Peas in a Pod desires to provide learning experiences and opportunities for children and families, TAMU/Blinn faculty and students, and senior citizens to build social-emotional relationships, encourage dual-language development, and provide mentoring opportunities.

Our Philosophy:

Love In Action

The heart of our mission is to help our students know that they are fully loved, they serve a purpose, and together we can change the world! We teach our students the value of loving one another.  Students learn to help and serve others starting right here in our own school family and then reaching out into our local community. Kids can make a big difference. Teaching children the value of love, joy, peace, gentleness, kindness, faithfulness, patience, generosity, and self control is at the core of our mission!

Highly Trained Teachers

Our teachers deliver developmentally appropriate, research-based instruction that fosters confidence, self-esteem, and a love for learning. Full-time teachers have a college degree in early childhood education, have a childcare certification (CDA), or are currently enrolled in an early childhood educational program.

Each of our staff members are pre-screened with criminal background checks, FBI fingerprints, and hold a current, pediatric first aid and CPR certification. All childcare staff receive 30 hours of early childhood training each year, including frequent training in Conscious Discipline and other early childhood subjects.

Additionally, new teachers complete an additional 24 hours of pre-service training. We team up with the TEACH Scholarship Program, CLI Circle CDA Training Program, and Blinn College to support our teachers in increasing their education through a CDA program and/or an associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education or a bachelor’s degree program.

Our goal is to support our teachers and staff in increasing their education, raising the quality of care and instruction for your little one.
